¬¬Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) organized a Seminar on “United Nations Public Service Day” on 27 October 2016 by the initiative of the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). Honorable State Minister Ismat Ara Sadique MP, Ministry of Public Administration, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was present as Chief Guest while Maj Gen Md Salahuddin Miaji, rcds,psc, Vice Chancellor of BUP and Mr. Nick Beresford, Deputy Country Director, UNDP, Bangladesh were present as Special Guest at the seminar. Ambassador Wali-ur Rahman, Former Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was present as keynote speaker. Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of BUP, Brigadier General Ridwan-Al-Mahmood, ndc, afwc, psc conducted the seminar as moderator. Besides, Military and Civil officials, Teachers, Students of BUP and invited guests from different organizations were also present in the program. Ismat Ara sadique says public service is not always an easy career to make, however, it can be immensely rewarding for the opportunity it offers to get challenges of our times. A strong and effective public service is essential to the global efforts for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. ‘As we move ahead, public sector institutions must become active ‘learning organizations’. It means harnessing the power of information and communication technologies, ’she concludes.
