Seminar on “Rethinking Governance: Treacherous Terrain, Shifting Agenda and the Possible Way Forward” held at BUP

Dhaka, 26 February 2018: Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) organized an international seminar titled “Rethinking Governance: Treacherous Terrain, Shifting Agenda and the Possible Way Forward” on 26 February 2018 by the initiative of Centre for Higher Studies and Research (CHSR) at Bijoy Auditorium of its campus.
In the seminar, Dr. Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Member, Socio-Economic Infrastructure Division, Planning Commission, Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh, Ministry of Planning addressed the programme as the Chief Guest and Dr Sharif N. As-Saber, Director, Master of International Business Program and Head of Geopolitics, Business and Government Research Cluster, School of Management, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University was present as the keynote speaker.
BUP Vice Chancellor Major General Md Emdad-Ul-Bari, ndc, psc, te and Pro-VC Professor M Abul Kashem Mozumder, Ph.D were present as the special guests in the seminar. Dean of Centre for Higher Studies and Research (CHSR) Brig Gen Syed Mofazzel Mawla (Retd) chaired the seminar.
The Speakers said in the seminar that there were some obstacles to ensure good governance in Bangladesh, but in the meantime, there has been significant improvement by eliminating those obstacles. Bangladesh has made significant improvements in various issues related to good governance like achieving all targets of MDGs, successful in Counter-terrorism, significant success in ICT, taking effective steps to overcome environmental disasters with its implementation, resolving border problem with India, elimination of poverty and so on.
Moreover, BUP all Officers, Teachers, MPhil and PhD researchers and students were also present in the seminar.
