Introduction

The Faculty of Security and Strategic Studies (FSSS) started its activities in full- scale from mid- 2013. FSSS of BUP is one of the pioneering educational disciplines in Bangladesh .Currently there are total three(03) departments namely International Relations, LAW and Peace and Human Rights Development Studies in this Faculty which are fully functional. Unlike IR and LAW, Peace and Human Rights Development Studies offers only Master's program. However, the department of Mass Communication and Journalism will be launched in January 2017.

Currently running departments under this faculty are as follows:

  • 3. Department of Peace and Human Rights Development Studies

 

Programs

Currently FSSS is administrating two types of programs:

  • 1. Honors program
  • 2. Master's program

Department of International Relations is running one program as Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS) in International Relations, department of LAW is running one program as LL.B (Honors) and Department of Peace and Human Rights Development Studies is offering a master's program. It is a self-finance program. It is total two years program with four semesters.

 

Number of Students

The number of seats for Bachelor program is 42 for each section of all departments. The number of each department is as follows:

    • i) Batch 2015-Total 49 ( Section A)
    • ii) Batch 2015-Total 49 ( Section B)
    • iii) Batch 2016-Total 37 ( Section A)
    • iv) Batch 2016-Total 37 ( Section B)
  • 2. Department of LAW
    • i) Batch 2016-Total 37 ( Section A)
    • ii) Batch 2016-Total 39 ( Section B)
  • 3. Department of Peace and Human Rights Development Studies
    • i) Batch 2016-Total 30

All the programs of FSSS are managed and taught by a group of highly qualified in house and adjunct faculty members. The total number of faculty members of all programs are as follows:

Future Plan

FSSS has a plan of expansion of its academic capacity and jurisdiction that will be executed gradually. Outline of future expansion is as follows:

  • LL.M in LAW
  • Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS Hons) in Peace and Human Rights Development Studies (PHRDS).
  • Master of Social Sciences (MSS) in International Relations (IR).
  • Master of Social Sciences (MSS) in Mass Communication and Journalism.
