Biography

Dr. Easnin Ara joined the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) in 2013.Before that she served another public university- University of Barisal. Easnin has a PhD in non-human agency in tourism businesses from the School of Business, University of Otago, New Zealand. She also holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a major in marketing securing excellent academic performances. In her academic journey, Easnin has earned several scholarships and awards, e.g., University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship, University of Otago Postgraduate Publication Bursary, Rajshahi University (RU)merit scholarships, and research grants.


Easnin believes teaching and research are such platforms where one has the scope to contribute a lot to the society. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes that effective teaching occurs only when the participants feel an enthusiastic engagement with the learning process. Hence, Easnin always tries to keep the participants at the core of every learning activity and encourage them to actively take part in the overall process of learning.


Easnin’s research interests are multi-disciplinary and particularly in developing contexts. Her research focus prioritizes services marketing, tourism product development, ethnic tourism, tourism micro-businesses, social capital and empowerment, social sustainability, community-based tourism, tourist behavior, relational approach, network theories, and critical interpretivism. In so doing, Easnin attempts to unfold the ontological politics of tourism businesses emphasizing that multiple realities co-exist, and we should acknowledge such different perspectives. Easnin’s works have been published in reputed academic platforms. Alongside, Easnin is a member of the Asia Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (APacCHRIE).
