13th Annual Senate Meeting held at BUP
The 13th Annual Senate Meeting of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) was held on 27 June 2021 at Bijoy Auditorium of its campus. This year, senate members participated in the meeting both physically and virtually maintaining social distance and appropriate health precautions. Senate Chairman and BUP VC Major General Md Moshfequr Rahman, SGP, SUP, ndc, psc presided over the meeting. At the outset, he presented a speech on various academic, administrative, and ongoing development activities of the university amidst the ongoing global pandemic. BUP Treasurer Air Cdre Muhammad Belal, BUP, NDU, ndc, psc, GD(P) presented a revised budget of Tk 107.90 crore for the fiscal year 2020-2021 and a budget of Tk 128.33 crore for the fiscal year 2021-2022. Air Commodore Md Readad Hossain, BUP, ndc, afwc, psc, ADWC, Chief of Public Relation, Information & Publications (PRI&P) presented the 13th Annual Report of BUP. Apart from approving the 2020-2021 revised budget, the senate members also approved the budget for 2021-2022 fiscal year amounting Tk. 128.33 crore and the 13th Annual Report of BUP. Registrar, BUP Brigadier General Abdullah Al Mamun, SPP, ndc, psc, G moderated the meeting as Member Secretary. At the beginning of his speech, Vice Chancellor paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of our independence and the father of nation. He also wished peace and forgiveness to the souls of all the renowned academics, scientists, poets, writers, journalists, intellectuals, politicians, and those who lost their loved ones due to COVID-19. In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor said that even though the classrooms are closed due to the global pandemic, the university has been arranging online classes since the beginning of this lockdown precisely. To maintain the highest quality of online class, BUP has provided various benefits to the students such as cash payment, free laptop, tuition fee waiver etc. He further mentioned that though BUP is young in age, but our students are reflecting the sign of talent continuously in various national and international arena and upholding the image of their university. The VC, in his speech, also emphasized on the purchase of books, journals and documents, provision of scholarships for students, review of curriculum, grants of computer items and books, research expenditure, publication of books and participation in academic exchange programmes with foreign universities etc. which got special priority in this budget. Among the senate members, notably Mr. Mostafizur Rahman, MP, Lt. Col. Muhammad Faruk Khan (Retd.), MP, Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam, Bir Uttam, MP, Secretaries from different ministries, high officials from Bangladesh Armed Forces, high officials of BUP and BUP Pro-VC Prof. M Abul Kashem Mozumder, PhD were present in the meeting. At the end, Senate Chairman thanked everyone for their gracious presence and active participation in the meeting and concluded that.
