5th Convocation of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP)
06 January 2020, Dhaka: The fifth convocation of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) was held on Monday, 06 January 2020 at BUP campus in Mirpur Cantonment. The Hon’ble President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid presided over the Convocation as the Chief Guest and the Chancellor of the University. Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, M.P was present on the occasion as the Special Guest while National Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman was the Convocation Speaker.
The Hon'ble President at the very outset congratulated the graduating students for their hard earned and well-deserved degree. He also urged the graduates to explore around the country and spread their knowledge and experience learned in BUP. Hon'ble President expressed his happiness knowing that, "BUP is going to publish a book titled 'Bangabandhu: A Profile in Leadership' consisting of 11 (Eleven) Chapters on the occasion of Mujib Borsho". The book will cover the biography, background and history of Bangabandhu; his role, leadership, contribution in Bangladesh; his important speeches, foreign policies, political, economic and educational ideologies will also be focused in detail.
This year, 12 students were being awarded with the Chancellor’s Gold Medal and 22 students got the Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal for outstanding results. On the other hand, 07 researchers were conferred with PhD and 16 with MPhil Degrees. In total 1778 graduates participated and were conferred degree in the 5th Convocation of BUP.
Among other distinguished guests Defence and Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Major General Tarique Ahmed Siddique (Retired); Admiral AMMM Aurangzeb Chowdhury, Chief of Naval Staff, Bangladesh Navy; Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, Chief of Air Staff , Bangladesh Air Force; VC of BUP Maj Gen Md Emdad-Ul-Bari; Pro-VC of BUP Professor M Abul Kashem Mozumder, Ph.D; Members of the Parliament, Secretaries of different ministries, former VC’s of BUP, media activists, civil and military high officials, BUP officials, faculties, students and guardians were present at the Convocation.
