BUP Film Fest 2019 held at BUP

Dhaka, 24 September 2019: With the tagline “Life Through film”, BUP film club in affiliation with the department of Mass Communication and Journalism has organized its first edition of ‘BUP Film Fest 2019’ from 23-24 September 2019, in the premises of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). The fest was inaugurated by Air Cdre Muhammad Belal, BUP, ndu, ndc, psc, GD(P), treasurer of BUP. Brig Gen Md. Siddiqul Alam Sikder, BSP, ndc, psc , Dean, Faculty of Security and Strategic Studies was present as the special guest. Lt Col Muhammad Khaled Bin Yusuf, EB, was the event moderator of this inaugural ceremony.

 

On first day, Fagun Haway directed by Tauquir Ahmed was screened. And selected short films submitted by the participants were also screened. Besides movie screening, A workshop was held. Famous director Amitav Reza Chowdhury talked with film enthusiasts about film making and directing.

 

On its second day,' Hasina: A Daughter’s tale' was screened in the morning. After that various competition like cine quiz, movie debate, cosplay was held. There was another workshop by cinematographer Pankaj Palit who shared his lifetime experiences about cinematography.

 

At evening  BUP Film Fest 2019 , honorable chief guest railway minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujon was present in the closing ceremony. Special guest Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals Major General Md Emdad-Ul-Bari, ndc, psc, te and faculty Dean Brig Gen Md Siddikul Alam Sikdar bsp, ndc, psc were also present there where they thanked honorable chief guest to accept the invitation and share their experiences and appreciation regarding ‘BUP Film Fest 2019’. The best short film of BUP Film Fest 2019 was projected and received huge appreciation.

In his speech, respected railway minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujon  discussed about the great contribution of Bangabondhu Seikh Mujibur Rahman in the inauguration of Bangladesh Film Development Institute. He emphasized on watching more films on Bangladesh War of Liberation to know about the glorified history of Bangladesh. He urged to make such films which will make us know the truths of life and living, make the world curious about Bangladesh and our flourishing film industry. He congratulated all participants and winners to be a part of BUP film fest.

At last respected chief guest railway minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujon, Vice Chancellor, Dean of the faculty of Security and Strategic Studies, Chairman of the department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Moderator and President of BUP Film Fest came on the stage for prize giving ceremony and joined the formal photo session.

BUP Film Club aim to provide the young talented film makers, script writers and admirers with an open platform for showcasing their talents. This is the first time they have done a successful  film fest collaborating with students from 26 different universities from all over Bangladesh.
