Dhaka, 20 August 2019: Bangladesh University of Professionals observed the National Mourning Day with due respect and solemnity, marking the 44th anniversary of the martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on 20 August 2019. The day-long programme included lowering of the national flag, Quran khotom, milad mahfil, special prayers, blood donation program, holding discussion, poems recitation and screening of documentary on Bangabandhu – “Chiranjib Bangabandhu” and “The Golden Days”. BUP VC Major General Md. Emdad Ul Bari, ndc, psc, te was present in the program as the chief guest. The discussion was held under the supervision of BUP Cultural Forum. BUP Pro-VC Professor M Abul Kashem Mozumder, PhD along with teachers and students also expressed their grief over this day of history. Blood donation program was organized under the supervision of Faculty of Medical Studies, BUP and Sandhani, Dhaka University Unit. All the officials, teachers and students of BUP participated in the program throughout the day.
