Interactive Classroom Seminar

An interactive classroom seminar for the students of Development Studies, batch 17 for the course: BDS 3627- Poverty Alleviation: Programs and Strategies was held on October 20, 2019 in CR: 601. Mr. Naoki Matsumura, Country Programme Coordinator (Disaster Risk Reduction), JICA, Bangladesh was present as the guest speaker. JICA is one of the leading donor agencies that has been supporting Bangladesh to overcome social vulnerability with a view to backing the country's efforts to achieving sustainable economic growth since 1972. The seminar was highly engaging, where students got to learn and ask questions about JICA’s assistance strategies through technical cooperation, loans and grants, some significant projects of JICA and their contribution in Bangladesh. After the seminar, Mr. Matsumura had a meeting with Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Brigadier General A K M Iqbal Azim, where they discussed various ways of potential collaboration between JICA and BUP. Chairman of the Department of Development Studies, Colonel Imrul Kais was also present there.
