Policy Making Competition (POMAC 1.0) -2019

BUP Economics Club (BUPEC) organized maiden inter-university ‘Policy Making Competition (POMAC 1.0) -2019’ from 13 October 2019 to 07 November 2019, sponsored by IFIC Bank. This competition was aimed to test creative thinking and analytical skills of the participants thereby develop their policy making skills. Main competition was divided into 3 segments. Each round of the competition challenged the participants differently. In the first round, the participants analyzed economics policies with demographic dividend of our country. Total 60 teams from 12 universities participated in this online round. These were scrutinized and evaluated by researchers of BIDS, a prime mover in the development sector of our country and strategic partner of this event. In the second round, the selected 20 teams defended their plausible solutions in closed room before a panel of Judges. Their analysis contained cross country comparison and suitability of the solutions. From the second round six groups from three universities moved to final round where strength, uniqueness, applicability, cost-benefit analysis of the policy solution was presented. Honorable Minister of Planning Mr M A Mannan, MP witnessed the final round as Chief Guest and awarded prizes among winners. Team Senjutsu of North South University became Champion, Team Yellow Turtle of Bangladesh University Professionals and Team Undisputed of North South University secured 1st and 2nd Runners Up respectively.
