Course Outline

Pollution and climate change are the major challenges of the 21st century. A substantial number of qualified environmental professionals are needed both in home and abroad to efficiently handle those challenges of our Earth. Besides, today’s most careers have a linkage with environment, such as, Business and Environment (Green Business), Finance and Environment (Green Banking), Economics and Environment (Environmental Economics), and Development and Environment (Sustainable Development). So, considering creation of environmental professionals and enhance career opportunities, we offer an interdisciplinary weekend Masters Program with overlapping social, ecological and economic issues. The program accepted students from different academic backgrounds.

The Masters in Environmental Science and Management (MESM) professional program from BUP has been designed for producing the most competent environmental professionals and experts. Under the program, degree will be awarded in two types of: M.Sc. for students from science background and Masters for students from other disciplines.

NOTES ON ELIGIBILITY

  • For qualifications/degrees other than those mentioned, equivalence will be determined by Equivalence Committee of BUP.
  • Eligible applicants will have to appear in written test and viva voce.

  • COURSE PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES: The course is offered for the students of MSc/MS Program in ES to provide them an adequate knowledge and idea on issues related to environmental pollution, with emphasis on causes, pathways, risks, mitigation and prevention. By the end of this course, students will have a good understanding of the dynamic nature of human-environment relationships, and the multidimensional characteristics of environmental pollution, through the use of Bangladeshi and international examples. This course will address the following specific objectives: • Help students understand the basics of atmospheric, aquatic and terrestrial environmental pollution. • Familiarize students with the recent mitigation practices to control such pollution.
