Biography

Md. Al Amin Rakib is an academic, filmmaker, and researcher who seamlessly integrates his theoretical expertise with extensive hands-on experience in the media industry. Passionate about both pedagogy and visual storytelling, his professional journey spans across academia, film production, and cultural policy. He is dedicated to advancing the fields of media and film studies, aspiring to elevate Bangladesh's presence in the global cinematic landscape as a prominent and educated creative force.

Professional Experience & Industry Engagement

Rakib’s versatile career encompasses roles as a content creator, video editor, scriptwriter, project supervisor, and local community manager. He has collaborated with renowned national and international organizations to deliver impactful media projects. Additionally, he engages in freelance translation, bridging linguistic gaps to ensure culturally significant narratives reach diverse global audiences.

Government & Policy Contributions

  • Convenor & Consultant: Served on the Search Committee under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

  • Documentary Producer: Directed and produced a documentary on the July-August Uprising 2024, operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

  • International Delegation: Represented the academic community as a member of the South Asia Scholar Delegation Visit to Taiwan in 2025.

Research & Fellowships

  • Research Fellow: Currently conducting a fellowship offered by the Bangladesh Film Archive, investigating the film censorship and certification systems of Bangladesh.

  • Funded Research Projects: Successfully completed independent research initiatives funded by the Bangla Academy and the BUP Centre for Higher Studies and Research.

  • Published Work: Published 5 journal articles in national journals.
