Shamme Akter is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), Dhaka. She completed both her BSS and MSS in Sociology from BUP, achieving outstanding academic distinction, and is currently pursuing her MPhil in Women Empowerment. She has published multiple peer-reviewed research articles and successfully completed a UGC-funded research project.

Her research interests lie in the Sociology of Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Gender and Development, Women’s Empowerment, Digital Media and Society, and quantitative research methods, particularly PLS-SEM using SmartPLS. Her ongoing academic work focuses on understanding how digital platforms and emerging technologies shape social structures, empowerment processes, and inequalities.
