Biography

Dr. Kawser Ahmed is a Canada-based peace and conflict scholar, educator, and practitioner. He earned his PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies (University of Manitoba, 2017), building on earlier graduate study in peace/conflict and defence/security. He previously served in the Bangladesh military, worked as an exchange officer in Turkey, and deployed as a UN observer-peacekeeper with MINURSO (Western Sahara, 2001–2002); he is also an alumnus of the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA), Washington, DC. He is an Adjunct Professor in Political Science at the University of Winnipeg and co-founded the Conflict and Resilience Research Institute Canada (CRRIC), with research spanning forced displacement (including the Rohingya crisis), countering radicalization through education, genocide prevention, and UN peacekeeping.
