Mission:

The mission of the Center is to support faculty, academic supportive professional staff and graduate teaching assistants through a variety of programs, resources and services in fulfilling their professional development that values innovative teaching, learning and scholarly activities.

Vision:

The Center envisions an enriched academic environment that facilitates and promotes effective teaching, supports professional development, stimulate research and scholarly activities and encourages the integration of instructional technologies.

Objectives
a.   To transform the young intellectual fresh graduates as a teacher and to enhance their capability of teaching and learning effectiveness.
b.   To know about Psychological Aspect to improve the learning process and promote educational success for students.
c.  To encourage thoughtful and effective integration of concepts of active learning,teaching, facilitation, and Learning Pedagogy into the teaching and learning process.
d.   To share ideas and activities aimed at making classrooms more interactive, communicative, creative and help student to develop Critical Thinking (Bloom’s Taxonomy).
e.    To apprise and develop an effective Assessment System applicable in Higher Education and Feedback System practiced in BUP.
f.   To enhance knowledge on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for innovative educational resources and optimize the delivery of information for effective Teaching and Learning.
g.    To be aware of Outcome Based Education (OBE) Policies, Procedure, and implementation of OBE in Course Mapping.
h.  To be apprised about Quality in Higher Education and to acquire adequate knowledge including implementation of Bangladesh Accreditation Council Standard & Criteria into practices.
i.      To maintain and enhance Faculty effectiveness and help Faculty fulfill academic responsibilities.
j.    To stimulate discussion, challenge ideas and provide an environment that allows teachers the time and space to think about their own professional development.

Faculty Development Program

General

Faculty members are the most important resources of the University. Therefore, developing every faculty member’s professional expertise is among the highest priorities of the university. BUP is committed to maintain its standard and quality through advanced education, research, and up-to-date training of the FMs. The program will provide an opportunity to review the latest pedagogical research, explore the newest ideas and research in   teaching and learning, learn about innovative new classroom methods and gain insight into best     practices in a fast-evolving higher education landscape. We expect lively discussion, spirited debate, and a rewarding exchange of ideas throughout total duration of the program.

Objective of the Module

1.    The objective of this Faculty Development Program (FDP) is to promote the professional development and to foster a climate for innovation in teaching and learning as applicable in higher education (Pedagogy). This Faculty Development Training Program designed under patronization of respected VC is to enrich Faculty’s capability to promote    student knowledge/learning, success, and institutional excellence. The program will guide the faculty members to plan, prepare and present their lecture/speech effectively with farsighted vision and goal. At the end of the program, the Faculty Members (FMs) will be able to develop the capacity for practicing Active Learning/Student Centered Learning in BUP.

2.    This program does not focus on a specific discipline instead it is a gathering of teachers with a passion for teaching and a commitment to finding evidence-based solutions to the challenges that we face in our day- to-day practice. The program is designed to achieve the following objectives:

Orientation Program

Orientation on the administrative aspects of BUP relevant to Faculty Members is held for 5-7 working days prior to the starting of FDP for newly recruited FMs.

The objectives of Orientation Program are:

(1) To orient the newly recruited FMs about Administrative Branches/System of BUP and Administrative Support available for FMs.
(2) To strengthen cooperation between Administrators and FMs.
(3) To orient and bring proficiency in effective use of UCAM used in BUP for Management of Education and Learning of students.
(4) To make aware of Official Decorum, Etiquette and Professional Relationship between Administrators and FMs.
