Course Outline

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is providing top-quality education in Computer Science and Engineering in its graduate programs. CSE is a booming sector in the present day. It is already declared as a prioritized sector in Bangladesh. Keeping this in mind, the department offers CSE courses to produce Computer Science and Engineering specialists.

The Masters in Computer Science and Engineering (MCSE) program is designed to produce graduates with a solid foundation in Computer Science and Engineering skills and knowledge that can be applied across a wide range of applications. It focuses on the systems development aspects of employment in the Computer Science and Engineering profession. Students gain extensive experience in developing Computer Science and Engineering to address the needs of modern organizations.

Vision of the Program

The vision of the Masters in Computer Science and Engineering (MCSE) program is to create computer engineers with advanced professional skills and the knowledge of ethical boundaries, who can be a demanding asset to the nation and the world.

Mission of the Program

The mission of the MCSE program is to provide state-of-the-art education in the field of CSE and enable students to apply this education effectively with a view to exploring computer science and engineering for the benefit of human beings.

 

 Program Objectives

  1. To grow and develop the students in their chosen profession and progress toward an advanced degree by giving innovative solutions to computer engineering-related problems.
  2. To develop the ability to research topics that can benefit the socio-economic condition of the country.
  3. To teach real-life situations where the students will apply their computer engineering knowledge.

 

Learning Outcomes

Graduates with Masters in CSE degree from BUP will be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge of the subject matters in their professional life.
  2. Exhibit leadership qualities through their projects.
  3. Learn to show professionalism in their jobs.
  4. Understand the common CSE practices to optimize the use of available resources.

Students should be able to demonstrate the ability to:

  1. Apply the principles and theory of computing to the requirements, design, and development of systems with an appropriate understanding of trade-offs.
  2. Present reasoned arguments for a given information handling problem or opportunity, including the impact of modern technologies.
  3. Critically think, evaluate and test systems to ensure the system meets the criteria for its use and future development.
  4. Define and use appropriate research methods to conduct a specific project.
  5. Learn independently, be self-aware, and self-manage their time and workload.
  6. Apply critical thinking to problem-solving.
  7. Work effectively with others and exhibit social responsibility.

  • Course Duration: 2 (two) years, 4 (four) semesters
  • Total Credit Hours:  40 Cr. M.Sc. Engineering ( 22 Cr. Theory + 18 Cr. Thesis) &  40 Cr. M. Engineering  (34 Cr. Theory 6 Cr.  Project)
  • Total Course Fee: M.Sc. Engineering ( TK 1,75,730.00 ) & M. Engineering  (TK 1,60,730.00). 

  • Eligibility for Admission

For admission to the courses leading to the degree of Master of Science/ Master of Engineering in CSE, an applicant must have obtained a bachelor’s degree in CSE, ICT, EEE, EECE, ETE, ECE, ICE, IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or relevant engineering background from any recognized university at home or abroad.

For admission to the program leading to MCSE, an applicant must have

a. A minimum GPA of 3.50 out of 5.00/ first division in SSC, HSC/equivalent examinations.

 b. At least 50% marks or a minimum GPA of 2.50 out of 4.0 or equivalent in B.Sc. Engg. or equivalent degree in the relevant branch.

2.     Other Relevant Engineering Branches   15 Marks 

              Total                                                         50 Marks

Weightage

 Written: 50% 
 Viva-Voce: 15% 
 Previous Result: 35% (B.Sc.-15%, SSC-10%, HSC-10%)
