1. Army Service Corps Centre and School (ASCC&S) was organized and raised on 16 December 1976 from “ASC Base Unit” in Dhaka Cantonment. It was shifted to its present location which is known as “Gilatala” in February 1978. Later on it was named as “Jahanabad Cantonment” in memory of the famous muslimsaint “Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali”. 2. Army Service Corps Centre and School is comprised of four basic wings namely Army Service Corps School, Training Battalion, Army Service Corps Records and Administrative Wing. Where former two deals with the courses and training; later two are dealing the personnel administration and training support. This institution is unique in it’s kind to have “Catering Company” which runs different types of cooking courses for all cooks of Bangladesh Army. 3. This institution is conducting number of courses. In that Army Service Corps School is committed to impart basic and advance training to all ranks of Army Service Corps and other arms and services too. Various courses conducted by Army Service Corps School are Unit Command Course (Svc), Senior Officers Logistics Course (SOLC), Mid Carrier Course (MCC), Officers’ Mechanical Transport Course (OMTC), Officers’ Basic Course (OBC), Basic Logistics and Management Course Package (BLMC for Navy Officer), Warrant Officers’ Course (WOC), Sergeants’ Course (SGTC), JCO’s – NCO’s Mechanical Transport Course (JNMTC) and VIP Vehicle Operating Course (VVOC). Besides Army Service Corps School, Training Battalion is vested upon with the prime task of recruit training. It also conduct Advance Trade Training (ATT), Promotion Cadre for Non Commissioned Officers’ and Junior Commissioned Officers’, Basic Trade Training Cook (Unit/Mess), Advance Trade Training Cook (Unit/Mess), Other Arms Mechanical Transport Course. 4. The National flag is the symbol of independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. National Flag is given either for the heroic contribution or any examplary contribution by the Institution/Unit both in war and peace. Army Service Corps Centre and School achieved this rare honorium in the year 1999 with the hand of the then and present Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 5. The aim of Army Service Corps Centre and School is to train officers’ and soldiers’ of Army Service Corp of Bangladesh Army to meet the combat support task both in peace and war. 6. The objectives of Army Service Corps Centre and School are as follows: a. Provide basic training to the newly commissioned officers of Army Service Corps. b. Conduct basic military training to all recruits of Army Service Corps. c. Make the soldiers (ASC) qualified in their services tasks through basic trade training and advanced trade training. d. Conduct Sergeants’ Course and Warrant Officers’ Course. e. Train drivers of infantry, Army Medical Corps and Military Police. f. Conduct Catering Courses for the cook of all arms/services. 7. Army Service Corps Centre and School is located 15 kilometers north of Khulna city at the river bank of river “BHOIRAB”. The highway connecting Khulna-Jashore passes alongside the cantonment.
