Biography

Md Arifur Rahman is from Bangladesh. Currently, he is a Professor in theDepartment of Management at the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP),Dhaka, Bangladesh. He worked as the head of the Department of Management, BUP for3 years. He has 18+ years of teachingexperience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in universities andprofessional institutes in Asia. He was awarded a Ph.D. in economics by Ritsumeikan University, Japan,in 2020, and his research work has focused on the retail density of Japan andits impact on the country’s household economy. He has made significant researchcontributions to the development of Japanese retailing during his Ph.D. work.In addition, he has studied retail employment and employee productivity in theSouth Asian retail industry. His research interests include the distributionsystem, internationalization of retailers, retailing in terms of technologicalinnovation, changes in the retail formats in the context of regional economicdevelopment, and the development of the retail workforce. Also, he has an interestin working Islamic food value chain and Islamic finance (Zakat, Usher, andSadaka).
