Biography

Dr. Abul Kalam Azad received B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.S. degrees in Applied Physics, Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2003 and 2005, respectively. Later, he also received the Ph.D. degree in Electronic and Information Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Kowloon, Hong Kong SAR, in 2018, with emphasis on Brillouin scattering based high-performance distributed optical fiber sensing systems. Dr. Azad is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh. His research interests include distributed optical fiber sensing systems, fiber optics and photonics, optical signal processing, digital signal and image processing, principal component analysis, artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, development of intelligent embedded systems, wavelet denoising and time-series analysis.
