Biography

A.S.M. Asaduzzaman is associate professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Dhaka. Dr. Asaduzzaman joined the University of Dhaka as a lecturer in 2002. Before joining DU, he worked as a lecturer in the Department of Journalism at the University of Chittagong for two years.

Dr. Asaduzzaman earned his Ph.D. degree in Media and Communication from Goldsmiths College, University of London, UK under the Commonwealth Scholarship Programme and master’s degree in Media Studies from The New School University, New York, USA (Junior Fulbright Scholarship). He has another master’s degree and a bachelor degree (BA Honours) in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Dr. Asaduzzaman has authored three books on communication and media literacy. He also published several research articles in recognized academic journals. He recently conducted a qualitative study on digital media usage pattern of Dhaka dwellers during the Covid-19 pandemic. His ongoing research projects are: Portrayal of the Liberation War of Bangladesh in Indian films and Its impact on Indo-Bangla relationship and ‘Digital Bangladesh’ in the making: Responsible digital citizenship by the youth in digital media.

His fields of interest are: media literacy, sociology of technology, gender and technology, political economy of ICT.
