Shamme Akter is a newly appointed lecturer in the sociology department at Bangladesh University of Professionals. She also holds an MPhil research fellowship from the BUP Center for Higher Studies and Research. At Bangladesh University of Professionals, she obtained  a Bachelor of Social Science (BSS Hons) in 2021 and a Master of Social Science (MSS) in 2022. She enrolled at the Sociology Department of Bangladesh University of Professionals in 2023. She was a research officer at the BUP Center for Higher Studies and Research prior to coming here. Her current research focuses on women's empowerment, Facebook e-commerce, climate migration, and slum-dwellers from the viewpoint of sociology.
