Industry–Academia Collaboration Initiative between BUP and Grameenphone on Sustainability Reporting and Youth Upskilling

A collaborative meeting was recently held between the Sustainability Reporting Team of Grameenphone (GP) and representatives from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) to explore potential avenues for industry–academia engagement. The discussion focused on fostering meaningful collaboration in the areas of sustainability reporting, youth upskilling, and knowledge sharing.

During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practices, particularly in the rapidly evolving field of sustainability. The collaboration aims to create opportunities for students to gain practical exposure while contributing to real-world sustainability challenges.
As an initial step, a pilot project on sustainability reporting has been proposed, involving a dedicated team of five members comprising faculty and students from BUP. This project will focus on analyzing sustainability-related disclosures and aligning them with global best practices and reporting standards.

The collaboration also envisions a dynamic knowledge exchange platform. Faculty members from BUP may conduct sessions at Grameenphone to share academic insights and research-based perspectives, while GP professionals are expected to visit BUP to provide industry-oriented knowledge and practical experiences to students.
Grameenphone expressed its strong belief that such initiatives will contribute significantly to developing skilled human resources in the sustainability domain, enhancing awareness, and creating future employment opportunities in this growing field. 

This collaboration marks an important step toward integrating academic excellence with industry expertise, ultimately contributing to sustainable development and capacity building in Bangladesh.
