Biography
Dr. Md. Mohammed Nasir Uddin was born in 1977 in Chattogram, Bangladesh, into a respected Muslim family. He currently serves as a Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)under the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), a distinguished public university administered under the supervision of the Bangladesh Armed Forces.
Dr. Uddin completed his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Chattogram, where he graduated with First Class in his Master’s. He subsequently earned his M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). His doctoral research, entitled “Numerical Study of Blood Flow Through Stenotic and Aneurysmatic Artery of Human Organ,” exemplifies a strong interdisciplinary foundation, integrating computational fluid dynamics with biomedical engineering applications.
His research interests are centered around Biomedical Science, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), Biofluid Mechanics, Heat and Mass Transfer. He has published more than 34 peer-reviewed research articles in internationally recognized journals and proceedings, including IEEE Access, Heliyon, Expert Systems with Applications, and the Malaysian Journal of Mathematical Sciences. He has also presented at several high-profile international conferences such as ICCIT, ICAEEE, BI 2020, and ACFM.
With over 20 years of academic experience, Dr. Uddin has held various teaching and administrative positions in both public and private universities, including the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT). Since joining BUP in 2015, he has made substantial contributions to academic leadership and program development, serving as Program Coordinator, Batch Advisor, Acting Chairman of the Department, Assistant Provost of BUP Hall. He has also served as a subject expert in reviewing papers for national and international journals. Additionally, he served as a Session Chair in various international conferences and Publication and Organizing Chair for the IEEE technically co-sponsored International Conference on ICT for Sustainable Development (ICICT4SD) in 2021 and 2023.
Dr. Uddin has taught a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate-level courses, including Numerical Methods, Differential Equations, Tensor Analysis, Linear Programming, and Research Methodology, primarily in the domains of engineering, ICT, and mathematics. He has supervised numerous theses and capstone projects at graduate and undergraduate levels, with a strong focus on applied mathematics, fluid mechanics, computational modeling, and biomedical science.
Dr. Uddin currently supervises M.Phil. and Ph.D. research projects focusing on the intersection of AI, healthcare systems, and numerical modeling. He is the Principal Investigator of the following funded research projects
- AI-Based Nationwide Chronic Disease Management System (NCDMS) with Blockchain and IoMT, supported by the World Bank under the EDGE program through BCC
- Nanoparticle-Based Targeted Drug Delivery Simulation for cardiovascular treatment, funded through the AUST Internal Research Grant (AIRG)
He is a lifetime member of the Bangladesh Mathematical Society and the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and holds professional membership with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). His technical competencies include advanced proficiency in C, C++, MATLAB, LaTeX, and COMSOL Multiphysics.
Beyond his academic responsibilities, Dr. Uddin takes an active interest in institutional development, curriculum innovation, and student mentorship. He is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of FST at BUP and has received commendations for his contributions to academic excellence and research leadership. His extracurricular interests include reading, academic writing, community engagement, and international travel.
