The Respected Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies conducted an interactive session with the students, faculty members, and officials of the Department of Marketing on 9th September 2026 at Bijoy Auditorium as part of his continued initiatives to support the academic, professional, and personal development of students. The session focused on professional development, ethical conduct, academic and research opportunities, student welfare, discipline, and students’ responsibilities towards the university and the country.
In his opening remarks, the Dean emphasized that BUP students are among the top-performing students of the country and therefore, have a responsibility to contribute positively to society and the nation. Focusing on marketing students, he highlighted the importance of being smart, expressive, confident, persuasive, and capable of presenting one’s strengths effectively. He stressed that students should develop strong communication and self-presentation skills and learn to apply their persuasive abilities responsibly and ethically in their future professional careers.
The Dean also emphasized the importance of integrity and responsibility towards the nation. Referring to the issue of loan defaults in Bangladesh, he noted that unethical financial practices may also involve educated and influential individuals. He urged students to uphold honesty and ethical standards and to use their knowledge and skills for the benefit of society and the country.
The Dean highlighted the ongoing development of BUP and the facilities available to students, particularly the expansion of the West Campus and the development of new student halls. He discussed the various initiatives undertaken to improve student facilities, accessibility, and safety. He also highlighted the growing corporate opportunities available to BUP students through the expansion of job fairs and industry connections. More than 600 final job placements were secured through the BUP Job Fair, reflecting the increasing engagement of organizations with BUP. The Dean encouraged students to actively participate in job fairs, internship programs, and other career-related activities to make the most of these opportunities.
During the interactive segment, students briefly shared their academic and career aspirations. One student highlighted the importance of staying dynamic and applying academic knowledge in real-world situations, while another expressed interest in pursuing an academic career through research. The Dean encouraged students to explore academic, business, and corporate career opportunities and to seek guidance from faculty members. He also highlighted the strong academic and research capabilities of BUP’s faculty members and the achievements of BUP students at national and international levels.
The Dean emphasized the importance of the responsible use of social media and advised students to maintain professionalism when representing BUP online. They were encouraged to verify information and communicate concerns through appropriate institutional channels. The importance of discipline and responsible conduct was also emphasized, with proper etiquette, mutual respect, and professionalism identified as essential qualities for academic and professional life.
Attention was also drawn to maintaining cleanliness, safety, discipline, and proper decorum throughout the campus. Students were reminded to comply with the university’s dress code, carry their ID cards, and demonstrate respect and courtesy towards faculty members, officials, staff, and fellow students. Particular emphasis was placed on maintaining a healthy and disciplined lifestyle, with students strongly advised to stay away from drug abuse, unethical practices in examination, and any form of unfair means. The Dean urged students to uphold responsible conduct in their daily lives and to remain mindful of their role as representatives of BUP. He encouraged them to develop strong personal values and contribute positively to the university community and society.
Finally, the session demonstrated the Faculty of Business Studies’ continued commitment to developing students as academically capable, professionally prepared, ethical, disciplined, and socially responsible individuals. The Dean encouraged students to make effective use of the opportunities provided by BUP, actively participate in academic and career activities, uphold the dignity and reputation of the university, and contribute positively to society and the country.
