Field Visit to CSGJ at Liberation War Museum by the Department of PCHR for Batch 2024 Students

11 Jun 2026

On Thursday, 11 June 2026, students of the department of Peace, Conflict and Human Rights, from the course Genocide Studies (PCH 3521) embarked on a transformative field visit to the Center for Studies of Genocide and Justice (CSGJ) at the Liberation War Museum. Moving far beyond the conventional historical perspectives taught in classrooms, this visit provided a rare scope for students to truly connect with and embody the spirit of the Liberation War. Through a screening of "The Liberation Struggle of Bangladesh" and an immersive gallery tour, the students confronted the raw, human dimensions of the 1971 tragedy. The visit culminated in a profound session on the international silence and global politics of 1971 conducted by prominent researcher and director of the museum Mr. Mofidul Hoque, encouraging students to critically engage with the underexplored and intellectually unsettling realities of the genocide. Ultimately, the experience fostered invaluable collective learning, bridging the gap between academic theory and the deeply felt, shared history of a nation.
