A Field Trip of Master of Public Health (MPH) Program Batch-01 held from 21st to 23rd February 2024 at Cox's Bazar. Throughout the trip, students had the opportunity to visit various locations and health facilities within Cox’s Bazar and was aimed to providing students with practical exposure and experiential learning opportunities relevant to their field of study. Under the esteemed guidance of the respected Dean of the Faculty of Medical Studies, BUP, the field trip was arranged, and program co-ordinators of the MPH Program provided invaluable guidance and support throughout the duration of the trip. Their expertise and mentorship were instrumental in ensuring the success of the endeavour. They also expressed their interest to organize more similar visits on a regular basis as these provide students with wonderful opportunities to relate the real scenario with the theoretical lessons they are learning in the classrooms.

The trip commenced on 21st February,2024 with a visit to the Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute, followed by exploration of Mini Bandarban and the scenic beauty of Inani Beach area. These visits provided valuable insights into environmental health and coastal management issues, aligning with the interdisciplinary nature of public health studies. On 22nd February,2024 as part of the MPH course curriculum, students had the privilege of visiting Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital. Resident Medical Officer Dr. Zihadul Islam provided a comprehensive overview of the hospital’s healthcare systems, facilities, and challenges. Engaging in interactive sessions with healthcare professionals facilitated a deeper understanding of healthcare delivery in the region. Additionally, Deputy Director Mostak Zahan and Deputy Registrar Dr. Saiful Islam extended tokens of appreciation on behalf of BUP, presenting crests and souvenirs to acknowledge the students’ participation and engagement. In the afternoon, students organized a vibrant sports event and cultural program. These recreational activities provided a welcome break from academic pursuits. The final day of the trip provided students with leisure time to explore and reflect on their experiences and memories from the enriching excursion.

Overall, the experiences gained during this trip will undoubtedly shape the future careers of the participating students, instilling in them a deeper appreciation for the complexities of public health practitioners.
