The Department of Business Administration in Marketing, Faculty of Business Studies, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), organized a seminar on 27 November 2025 titled “Data-Driven Innovation: The Future of New Product Development in Digital Era” at the Bijoy Auditorium, BUP.

As organizations across the globe shift toward data-centric strategies, the seminar took on relevance. It explored how data analytics, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies are reshaping the innovation landscape, especially the ways new products are conceived, designed, tested, and delivered. Speakers emphasized that data-driven innovation is no longer optional; it has become a prerequisite for competitive advantage, customer-centricity, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth in the modern digital economy.

The seminar featured distinguished speakers from industry and academia:

Dr. Md. Nazmul Hossain, Professor, Department of Marketing, University of Dhaka, delivered the keynote address. He highlighted the foundations of data-driven marketing and innovation, demonstrating how global organizations use data to personalize offerings, forecast trends, and refine strategic decisions. His presentation underscored the growing importance of big data and AI in shaping the next generation of products.

Dr. Md. Zahedul Alam, Professor, Department of Marketing, BUP, served as the first panel speaker. He discussed the theoretical and research-based foundations of data-driven innovation, explaining how data analytics capabilities enhance innovation speed, improve product-market fit, and strengthen strategic decision-making. He also explored recent academic findings that connect data governance, organizational culture, and innovation performance.

Kazi Nurus Sofa, Executive Vice President, UX & App Strategy, App Growth, Product Management at bKash, presented the practitioner’s viewpoint. Drawing on real-world experience, he explained how data informs user journey design, app development, and product optimization at scale. His talk illustrated how millions of daily user interactions help refine product features, improve reliability, and support national-level digital inclusion.

The session was moderated by Assistant Professor Takrima Jannat, Department of Marketing, BUP. Through her engaging facilitation, she brought together theoretical insights, industry practices, and student perspectives, ensuring that discussions remained interactive, contextual, and enriching.

The seminar also included a student speech and a panel discussion, providing a platform for participants to raise questions and connect classroom theories with real-world data-driven applications. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Dean, Faculty of Business Studies.
